Atria La Jolla had excessive noise in their dining hall during full occupancy, which reduced speach intelligibility. The excess sound was determined to be due to a long reverberation time from sound reflections in the room. An RT60 measurement was made to determine how much absorptive material should be added to the room to reduce the reverberation time to acceptable levels. After the recommendations were implemented another RT60 measurement was taken to verify that the reverberation time targets were met.
